  • Andrew BMus,BEd, MA, FVCM (Honours), LTCL is at present Principal Organist at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Rickmansworth and has been involved in Church music and services as organist and choir master since 1969. Andrew Sykes has performed widely, both as a soloist and as accompanist for large scale choral works.

    He is a noted exponent of the music of Diderik Buxtehude and J.S. Bach and a composer and arranger of organ repertoire. He has also made important contributions to Allen Forte's analysis methodology of the music of the Second Viennese school (Schoenberg, Berg and Webern).

    Andrew is an exceptional jazz pianist and has performed widely in groups and bands embracing a multitude of styles. His classical training makes him a brilliant exponent of a wide range of harmonic and rhythmic techniques and he is much sought-after and greatly admired virtuoso of improvisation.

    In addition to his vast performance career, Andrew has years of teaching experience. He has worked in several schools and music studios, having taught students of all ages and all levels. He not only ensures that his students master the skill of learning an instrument, but also encourages a love and appreciation for music.
